SINGAPORE'S INDIE SENSATION SHYE DIVES DEEP INTO THE MIDPOINT OF LOVE AND LOSS IN NEW SONG "WAITED FOR YOU"

SET TO PERFORM HER FIRST EVER HEADLINE SHOW
IN THAILAND ON APRIL 26

April 15th, 2025 — Singapore's indie pop darling, singer-songwriter and producer Shye unveils her latest single, "Waited for you", a soul-stirring track that explores the emotional turmoil of being caught in the "in-between" of a relationship. The song, which embodies the space between holding on and letting go, takes listeners on an intimate journey through love, doubt, and self-discovery. Fans can stream the song HERE.

"Waited for you" encapsulates the poignant moment of being stuck in the in-between—caught between holding on and letting go. It addresses the complexities of waiting, hoping, and questioning, "Are you worth it?" The song captures the anxiety of toxic ties, symbolised by the lyric "I drown in your goodbyes," as they appear and disappear on their terms, playing games with your heart and mind.

"Through the melodies and lyrics, I hope to provide a sense of comfort and understanding for those who are in toxic situations, reminding them to stop blaming or doubting themselves. More important than anything, I want them to know that it's okay to take the time to process their emotions and to encourage them to choose themselves."

— Shye

Drawing a parallel to the phases of a day—morning, afternoon, and evening—the song represents the afternoon: the midpoint between beginnings and endings. Shye reflects on the beauty of this transitionary space, recognising that it's the decisions made during this phase that hold the power to shape the outcome. "The afternoon doesn’t last forever and eventually, we will find the strength to close this chapter and step into the next." says Shye.

For Shye, "Waited for you" marks a shift in her usual songwriting process. Rather than starting with chord progressions, the melody and first line of the chorus came to her like a spark of inspiration. "I immediately recorded it on my phone, then searched for the right chords. Everything just flowed naturally from there," she explains.

Through this release, Shye hopes to connect with listeners who may be stuck in the emotional "afternoon" of their own relationships—caught in the uncertainty of waiting, questioning, and holding onto something that feels increasingly fragmented. "Waited for you" is a poignant reminder to trust ourselves, take the time to heal, and ultimately embrace the courage to let go when it's time to move on.
