The Itchyworms to stage “Good Time Show” concert at Newport Performing Arts Theater

Manila, Philippines – February 27, 2025 — Get ready for a night fun, music, and unforgettable banters as The Itchywormsstage their highly anticipated concert, Good Time Show to the Newport Performing Arts Theater on March 1, 2025 at 8:00 PM.

Presented by Philippine Science High School Batch 2000and AEXPONENT MEDIA PRODUCTIONS, INC., the special concert will benefit the Philippine Science High School community, adding a meaningful cause to event filled with entertainment and camaraderie.

The concert’s title is a playful homage to the band’s iconic, generation-defining album, Noontime Show, which won Album of the Year at the 2006 NU Rock Awards and catapulted them to mainstream success. It also perfectly captures the essence of the concert: “when you to an Itchyworms show, you’re guaranteed a good time!”

As drummer and lead vocalist Jazz Nicolas puts it, “We wanted a name that captures the fun, the nostalgia, the energy, and the connection we have with our audience. Whether you’ve been with us since the early days or just discovered our music recently, this is a show where you can sing your heart out, laugh, dance, and just enjoy the moment.”

Fans can expect an exciting setlist that will include some of the band’s biggest hits, as well as rare gems and reinterpretations from their extensive catalog. But The Itchyworms aren’t stopping there: under the visionary direction of Jamie Wilson, they promise to elevate the live music experience to new heights with a dynamic production that’s sure to leave the audience in awe.

“We’re super excited about this one,” shares vocalist Jazz Nicolas. ‘Every time we play live, we want to give fans something new—whether it’s a fresh take on an old favorite, unexpected mashups, or even songs we rarely play. In an exciting twist, The Itchyworms’ Good Time Show will also feature intricate musical arrangements by the Manila String Machine on select tracks, adding a unique orchestral flair to the band’s signature pop-rock sound. The night will be further amplified by a special guest performance from The CompanY, one of the Philippines most respected pop groups.

REP restages hit romcom musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change for 2025

The show officially opens REP’s 88th Season at its new home theater in Eastwood

After a successful run last season, Repertory Philippines (REP)kicked off their 88th Season by bringing back its successful musical comedy from 2024 I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. The show runs until March 9, 2025, at the REP Eastwood Theater in Eastwood City Walk, Quezon City.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, the longest-running off-Broadway show, is a two-act romantic musical comedy set against the backdrop of a bustling metropolis and the ever-present glow of dating apps and social media. With book and lyrics by award-winning Joe DiPietro and music by renowned composer Jimmy Brooks, this classic production was refreshed by the First Lady of Philippine Musical Theater Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo for its restaging in 2024.

This fresh take on a timeless tale explores the highs and lows of love in today’s fast-paced world. Played by four actors in twenty vignettes, it covers “everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit.” From awkward first dates to courtship, marriage and the complexities of commitment, each vignette captures the essence of contemporary romance, reminding us that amidst the chaos, love and genuine connections still prevail.

The original cast of Gian Magdangal, Gabby Padilla, Krystal Kane, and Marvin Ong make their triumphant return to reprise their roles as the 40 characters, and Davy Narciso and Barbara Jance once again join the cast as male and female swings, respectively. Some of the most memorable vignettes include a hopeful I Will Be Loved Tonight before a first date; a passion-filled musing of a man still in love with his wife in Shouldn’t I Be Less I Love With You; a middle-aged woman navigating online dating in The Very First Dating Video of Rose Ritz; and the sweet, blossoming romance between senior citizens in I Can Live With That.

Since its staging, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change has been cited as one of highlights of the 2024 theater scene by critics, media, and theater fans. It has also been nominated and cited for 13 Gawad Buhay Awards and 2 Aliw Awards, including Female Lead Performance in a Musical for Krystal Kane and Gabby Padilla; Male Lead Performance in a Musical for Gian Magdangal and Marvin Ong; Outstanding Musical Direction by Ejay Yatco; Outstanding Ensemble Performance for a Musical; Outstanding Stage Direction for a Musical for Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo; and Outstanding Production of Existing Material for a Musical. Gabby Padilla was nominated as Best Lead Actress in a Musical for the Aliw Awards 2024, while the production was nominated for Best Musical Play.

Iconic Filipino band Hemp Republic marks a monumental milestone as they celebrate their 25^th anniversary in the music industry.

The highly anticipated event will also serve as an officiallaunch of their upcoming 6-track release, The Mighty People, which promises to be a celebration of resilience, unity, and the evolving sound of Pinoy reggae. “The album carries the spirit of our journey over the past 25 years—staying true to our roots while embracing new influences,” explains Bunny Liwanag, the lead vocalist of the band. “The six tracks in the album reflect themes of love, struggle, truth, and liberation, with our signature blend of reggae, rock, dub, and island vibes.”

In addition to a long set from Hemp Republic, the 25^thanniversary show will feature powerhouse performances from some of the most influential names in local reggae, ska, and dub scenes, including Brownman Revival, Reggae Mistress, Tropical Depression, and Collie Herb. These bands have played vital roles in pushing Pinoy reggae into exciting new places, sonically and lyrically, and their inclusion makes the celebration even more significant to the times.

“These artists have been instrumental in shaping the sound and spirit of local reggae, and we’ve shared countless memories performing together at legendary venues like Xaymaca, Mayric’s, Freedom Bar, and various reggae festivals across the country, “ sharesLiwanag. “They’ve inspired us, and we deeply respect what they’ve done for the movement. Having them with us for this celebration makes the night even more special.”

Liwanag, a key figure in the local alternative and reggae scenes, is thrilled to host a show that unites reggae fans across generations—those who have supported the band since 2005’s Welcome to Hemp Republic album and those who are discovering their music for the first time.

“This is more than just an album launch—it’s a homecoming, a reunion, and a celebration of 25 years of music, friendship, and the Pinoy reggae movement,” Liwanag explains. “The 25th anniversary show is a reflection of our journey, from our early days jamming in UP Los Baños to performing in international venues and concerts in Europe, to influencing a new wave of reggae artists across the country.”

Ahead of their album release, Hemp Republic will drop their new single “Linlang,” a week prior to the launch party, giving fans a taste of what’s to come.

Benj Pangilinan confronts self-doubt in new single “Alinlangan”

The soulful ballad examines his internal struggles in the midst of adolescent love

After releasing compellingly sentimental tunes “Love That’s Rare” and “Nandito Na Ako,” a duet with Angela Ken, here’s another OPM release blending intimate lyrics with soothing, well-crafted arrangements.

Benj Pangilinan bares his soul in the latest single, “Alinlangan,” released under Sony Music Entertainment. The heartfelt, piano-driven ballad expresses the Filipino singer-songwriter’s internal struggle and crippling self-doubt, as he questions the validity of his feelings, thinking that he isn’t deserving of such love.

“The inspiration for the song came from the idea of searching for true love and the emotions that come with it,” shares the promising musician. “The title, Alinlangan was suggested by Jungee Marcelo. It explores the experience of self-doubt, a struggle that many people face and can relate to.”

Co-written with veteran composer Kiko Salazar, “Alinlangan” captures the emotional complexities Benj is still learning to navigate. He adds, “I think my journey is just beginning, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. In terms of what this track represents, I’d rather let the work speak for itself and allow the audience to connect with it in their own way.”

While it might be tempting to view self-doubt as merely a flaw, “Alinlangan” offers a deeper perspective. Benj embraces the judgment he faces from others who know nothing about him, recognizing that such challenges are necessary for emotional growth.

Sonically speaking, the song evolves in an unexpected way, transitioning from a minimalist piano arrangement with subtle instrumentation into a soaring pop anthem as it progresses. Benj explains, “The transitions in the song reflect the escalation of emotions, much like how our thoughts build up, especially when love and self-doubt are involved. The goal of this progression was to capture that emotional journey and the internal struggle that comes with it.”

The song lyrics were first teased last month when Addison was spotted wearing a t-shirt with the chorus written in hot pink letters. The lyrics were then published in the February 2025 issue of Rolling Stone where Addison graced the cover shot by the iconic Inez & Vinoodh.

Addison announced the track’s Valentine’s Day release date with an official teaser unveiled Monday. Filmed in her home state of Louisiana, the video—with creative by Addison Rae, Lexee Smith & Mitch Ryan—delivers all the fashion its title promises, with styling by her frequent collaborator DARA, makeup by the iconic Dame Pat McGrath, hair by Lucas Wilson, and nails by Mei. “I don’t need your drugs, I’d rather get high fashion,” Addison declares, as the video takes fans on a dazzling, chaotic ride through clouds of glitter, a burning field, and a striking homage to The Wizard of Oz with an iconic pair of ruby slippers.

Since the release of Diet Pepsi in October, Addison has cemented herself as one of pop’s most promising new voices. Following the release of her latest album Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain, Raveena returns to announce the deluxe version due Feb 28th. The deluxe was finished in the midst of the LA fires and features two new singles and an updated version of "Lose My Focus" that now features Umi as well as a remix of the single. These new songs embrace themes of love, maturity, comfort, and domesticity, while also addressing heavy climate grief and longing for a simpler time.

Alongside the announcement Raveena shares a taste of the forthcoming project with a new single and video “Sun Don’t Leave Me” filmed in South Africa. Speaking about the new song, Raveena shares:

“This song captures the feeling of grief for a simpler time on Earth - for the grief of our Earth’s resources, climate and beauty rapidly declining. I was feeling the intensity of this song more than ever because of the ways the fires in LA were affecting me and my loved ones, as a person in the highest level evacuation zone. Even larger than climate grief, this song contemplates the feeling of wanting to hold onto one more beautiful sunset, one more passionate embrace, before things change again and hard times strike. The new single and video precedes upcoming tour dates to be announced soon and follows the release of Raveena’s film Where The Butterflies Went, a 30-minute piece executive produced by James Beard Award-winning chef and two-time Emmy Award nominee Sophia Roe in collaboration with the multidisciplinary collective Aerthship.

Orange & Lemons gives The Carpenters’ “Close To You” a modern, indie pop twist

The award-winning Filipino band will also embark on a global tour across five cities in Asia and North America

Indie pop quartet Orange & Lemons marks the season of romance with a fresh take on The Carpenters’ timeless classic “Close To You.”

Released just in time for Valentine’s Day, the band’s cover brings a modern twist to the iconic track while preserving the original’s emotional essence.

The remake of “Close To You” features subtle upgrades and embellishments from their usual live version.

Clem Castro, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band, recalls the origins of the cover, which dates back to 1999 when the Bulacan-based band was preparing the material for their debut album, Love In the Land of Rubber Shoes & Dirty Ice Cream. He explains, “I was inspired to create a cover version for live gigs and challenged ourselves to integrate our own sound. It has been a staple since then on our set list. On top of that, I am a huge fan of Burt Bacharach.”

According to Clem, one of the major distinctions from the original version is the absence of the transposition, which sets this cover apart from others. The band reinterprets “Close To You” with keyboard elements that elevate the track’s melodic appeal.

“The guitar solo rolling bass lines, and drum pattern is definitely O&L,” Clem adds. “The build up at the end was eargasm for us. It is safe to say, this is infinitely different from any version you can find on streaming sites.”

In addition to the release of “Close To You,” the Hanggang Kailan chart-toppers are gearing up for an international tour. The band will visit five cities across Asia and North America, bringing their beloved hits, fresh tracks, and rarities to fans worldwide.

Ben&Ben celebrates the season of love with the release of their heartwarming new single, “Tomorrow With You,” now available via Sony Music Entertainment.

The song explores the resilience of love in the face of life's uncertainties, emphasizing the importance of taking each day as it comes, particularly during difficult times.

Inspired by the people who shaped and impacted their journey as individuals and as a band, Ben&Ben shares that the song encapsulates their growth, both personally and creatively, with family, friends, and loved ones by their side.

“Given that we have travelled quite far already in these dimensions, Tomorrow With You brings in the wisdom and maturity gained in these areas of our lives and channels it into a love song that embodies all of it,” explains the Pagtingin act.

The band describes the feeling as a “unique audiovisual storytelling adventure that hopefully becomes a part of their own life stories as well.”

“The live performance was meticulously recorded during a concert that meant a lot to us and to our Liwanag [fans],” they add. “The event was a milestone after a year marred with many struggles, hardships, failures, and lessons. Quite literally, it was the embodiment of the lyrics in the song: Embrace hard times with you, ‘til they’re gone.”

Produced by Indonesian musician Petra Sihombing, “Tomorrow With You” blends ‘70s singer-songwriter pop, jazz, and classic soul influences with a waltz-like rhythm, creating a soothing soundscape for moments spent with your special someone. The song’s rich textures are brought to life by Sihombing’s production, which the band says beautifully captured the song’s emotional depth and dynamics.

“Our good friend from Indonesia, Petra Sihombing, produced the track,” shares the nine-member band. “He was trying to achieve translating the earnestness of emotion and the steady buildup of the song in terms of dynamics and the frequencies highlighted, which we feel he did quite well. It’s always a pleasure working with Petra. Additionally, Ziv, our friend who produced the other tracks in the album, laid down the saxophone part, which added a whole new nuance to the song.”

“Tomorrow With You” is the latest single off Ben&Ben’s recently released third full-length album, The TravellerAcross Dimensions. The song is now available on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

Munimuni to headline Philippine tour next month, with stops in Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, CDO, and more!

The nationwide tour will feature live performances featuring songs from their 2024 album, Alegorya, along with fan favorites

Munimuni will embark on a Philippine tour next month as part of the campaign to promote their third full-length 2024 album, Alegorya.

The acclaimed Filipino band has announced the first part of their nationwide tour, which includes shows spanning cities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao: Baguio, La Union, Metro Manila, Lucena, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, and Davao.

Co-produced and co-organized by GNN Entertainment Productions, the tour will feature long sets by the five-piece band, and will be supported by guest actsrepresenting each city. The tour has also partnered with Filla Killa, Indie CDO, Holodeck Productions, Alpas, Film and Print, and Whitebox Collective, to bring the tour outside of the capital.

“We try to get tour locations where we can reach both our current listeners and new ones,” shares the five-piece act in a collective statement. “In locations that are further away, although we can't possibly reach every city, we had it in mind to choose venues that are accessible to as much of our listeners as possible. Another factor would be the existence of local productions, as we wanted to collaborate with and support local scenes.” 

Apart from the commitment to reach out to the music listeners from far-flung areas that don’t normally see them perform live, the folk-pop quintet also expressed excitement in performing songs off their latest album, along with some fan favorites.

“We are embarking on this tour in order to promote our latest album, Alegorya. We'll be singing a lot of songs from the album, but also some older songs. We plan our setlists in a way that makes sense depending on what main message we feel like we need to communicate for the particular event and audience.”

Filipino artist MURI to represent the Philippines at this year’s Bangkok Music City festival

Following her recent confirmation for a performance at the 2025 South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival, indie pop/soul sensation MURI is set to represent the Philippines at this year’s Bangkok Music City (BMC).

MURI, the acclaimed singer-songwriter known for her unique blend of R&B, jazz, soul, and indie pop, will take the global stage alongside 58 artists from Thailand and more than 18 international artists.

“I believe there’s a wealth of untapped potential for artists to connect within ASEAN, and I’m thrilled to perform in Bangkok for the first time,” shares the rising Filipino act. “I’ve also heard so much about the Thai music scene and can’t wait to check out Thai and regional musicians while I’m there. And hopefully give them a little taste of what Filipino music is too.”

As she continues to captivate international and local audiences, MURI is also preparing to release a string of exciting new tracks, including collaborations with music producers from Japan, Malaysia, and her home country, the Philippines. “2025 has just been kicking off with a bang. I feel so grateful for all these opportunities, and I’m looking forward to performing and pushing out new music, including some collaborations and my own solo work.”

The good news doesn’t stop there: Apart from her stints at SXSW and Bangkok Music City, Muri will be throwing her own send-off party on March 22, 2025, at Sixty32 Cocktail Lounge in Rockwell, Makati City. Fans can expect a memorable evening, as MURI is joined by an incredible lineup: award-winning singer-songwriter Clara Benin, indie-folk band The Ransom Collective, and promising newcomer OZO. Late last year, MURI released her debut EP, 11ème, which takes listeners on a journey through the artist’s experiences across different cultures and cities. She also showcased her new music at the AXEAN Music Festival in Bali, Indonesia, in September 2024.

Bangkok Music City is touted as the “pioneer music conference and showcase festival in Thailand,” and will take place on March 1 and 2, 2025, at the Charoenkrung Creative District in Bangkok. Its return in 2025 is spearheaded by Live Nation Tero, Fungjai, and Nylon Thailand.

NOBITA teams up with Flow G on genre-defying track “PNYT”

The infectious song marks a new sonic direction for the pop-rock quintet

Renowned for their emotionally charged ‘hugot’ songwriting, Filipino alternative pop quintet NOBITA is back with a powerful new single “PNYT,” which promises to solidify their place in pop culture consciousness. Following the massive success of hits like “Ikaw Lang” and “Unang Sayaw,” the band is set to captivate a broader audience with this genre-defying track.

“PNYT,” which features award-winning rapper Flow G, serves as a bold departure from NOBITA’s signature sound. Infused with raw emotion and vulnerable lyrics, it tackles the unpredictable and sometimes devastating nature of love. Although they weren’t close friends by default, the band felt a natural connection with the rapper. After reaching out to him on Instagram, Flow G immediately agreed to work together, and the chemistry between the artists quickly translated into a unique, passionate offering.

“PNYT” stands as a testament to the band’s versatility. With its aggressive instrumentation and the intense, heartfelt delivery of both NOBITA and Flow G, the song carries a fatalistic energy that sets it apart from the band’s previous work. It’s a refreshing, unfiltered look at the complexities of modern love, delivered with an undeniable sense of urgency and defiance.

According to NOBITA, the track really pushed them to go beyond their comfort zone and explore a completely different direction that is quite unusual from their repertoire. Despite multiple revisions and adjustments, NOBITA stepped up to the challenge to deliver a colossal anthem that pierces through the speakers in a captivating way.
